About

My work is about finding perspective.

Theatre invites the audience to consider the world from a new, unfamiliar perspective in the hopes that it might change the way they see the everyday. This drives everything we do.

I often create grand, sculptural scenery that can shed new light on an old story. I also love to use everyday materials and objects to create scenic elements, inviting the audience to relate to them in a different way. Much of my work is inspired by music; sound has a kinesthetic way of reaching an audience, and I strive to complement this strength in my scenery and lighting.

And of course, theatre is a team sport. I’m a strong believer that the best shows are created when collaboration wins out over ego. I find that my job is to listen carefully to my team of creatives, to comprehend our unique, shared perspective, and then to make it happen.

Tucker lives in Seattle, where he works as an assistant professor of theatre at Seattle Pacific University. He holds an M.F.A. in Theatre from the Live Design program at the University of Texas at Austin as well as a B.A. in Theatre with a minor in Linguistics and Cultural Studies from Seattle Pacific University. He has designed both scenery and lighting in and around Seattle and Austin.
